If you are reading this blog, then I am assuming congratulations are in order and you are researching your first baby scan!
Most expectant mothers have their first baby scan between 10 and 14 weeks, which marks the end of your first trimester. You are a third of the way through already!
At this stage you may have started getting some weird symptoms, a common one is drooling in your sleep. Fret not, this is all normal and totally worth it in the end! Did you know right now your bundle of love is already fully formed, tiny, but fully formed! In fact, he/she/they are about the size of a plum!
Although every woman is entitled to baby scans with the NHS between 11 and 13+6 weeks, there are private scanning clinics that offer early pregnancy reassurance baby scans at 6-15 weeks. If you are a first-time mummy, this can be a very scary time causing a lot of anxiety. Knowing early on that everything is fine, can make you feel at ease during the start and the rest of my pregnancy.
Once you hit the 16 weeks mark you can have a sexing baby scan with the NHS (if you choose to of course). Your gender scan 16 weeks gives you the perfect opportunity to start shopping for your little one if you choose to know the sex of your baby.
Wishing you the best pregnancy! Happy scanning!
